How to come up with a good blog name

Now you know how to come up with blog ideas, and have your page set up. How about your blog name? If you’ve already come up with one, and are happy with it, you’re free to skip this post. However, if you are having trouble with names, this is the blog for you.

Without ado, here are four ways to come up with a blog name

1. A play on words

A play on words is always a good way to put a smile on someone’s face. For example, my blog is called the Logger’s Cabin. The words Blogger and Vlogger are identical apart from the first letter, so I removed the first letter. The word Logger has a different meaning, so I decided to add the word I most related to ‘Logger’- A cabin. Using this method, you can create witty names for your blog in no time.

2. Check the thesaurus

The thesaurus is a great way to find names that don’t sound generic. Say, you’re trying to start a blog on cars. However, doesn't the word ‘Cars’ sound kind of generic(not to mention Disney’ll probably sue you for capitalizing the word)? Simple- head over to thesaurus.com

Now you have a list of synonyms for the word, and if you’re feeling brave, you can use the less common words like ‘Clunker’. In my opinion, ‘Carl’s Clunkers’ sounds a lot more catchy than ‘Carl’s Cars’.

3. Alliteration

There’s something about alliteration that has its own charm to it. Maybe it’s the way most of them roll right off the tongue. For those of you who don’t know what alliteration is, it’s words that start with the same letter. Many companies have names with alliteration, for example, Coca-Cola, Dunkin’ Donuts, etc.

4. Use your own name

This one seems like the no-brainer, but if used correctly, gives your blog a professional feel. Not only that but they can be used along with the other strategies. One such example is ‘Carl’s Clunkers’, as mentioned before(because I am an expert at foreshadowing). Here, your name (Carl) is used with alliteration (Clunkers).
